Impact de la liberté de choix sur l’équité des systèmes éducatifs ouest-européens
In this paper (14 p.) we look for a correlation between the level of equity in the Western Europeaneducation systems — measured by the social determination of PISA-results — with the degree offreedom of choice given to parents. The latter is computed by an index based on three factors : demographicalparameters, the mode of regulation of school choice and the numerical importance of privateeducation. The study shows a very strong relationship between social inequality in education systemsand their quasi-market organisation. It shows also that the conjunction of great freedom of choice witha process of selection/orientation at a low age is highly harmful for equity in education.
